Sivasagar DC extends helping hand to visually challenged minor girl

GAURISAGAR: Exhibiting a generous gesture, the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya on Thursday extended a helping hand to a visually challenged minor girl.

The 10-year-old girl, Akhtara Rahman, daughter of Abdul Rahman of Amtalia village of Kalugaon in the district who came to the Deputy Commissioner with her father returned home with a smile on her face. The girl, who is also facing hearing problem was assured of all possible support by the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner ensured that the girl would be provided all assistance under the Ayushmaan Bharat and Atal Amrit Abhiyaan. After knowing from her father that she has a penchant for drawing, the Deputy Commissioner asked her to draw pictures of the wooden models of Rang Ghar and Sivadol. Overwhelmed by the drawings of the minor girl, the Deputy Commissioner called on noted artist Sujit Barua and entrusted him the responsibility of mentoring her. The Deputy Commissioner also made free entry for her at the District Library.
