SIVASAGAR: The district-level fertilizer review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav recently.
The meeting discussed the problems faced by the farmers of the district while purchasing chemical fertilisers and the purchase of fertilizers by small tea growers and large tea planters.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the agriculture officers, especially the Agriculture Development Officers, to visit the chemical fertilizer dealers regularly and submit reports.
He advised to designate one fertilizer dealer for each area-based tea plantation and keep other dealers open only for farmers to ensure that farmers get the right amount of fertilizer at the right time.
The Deputy Commissioner also suggested that dealer stamps be affixed to the fertilizer bags to make subsidized urea fertilizer available to the farmers and prevent it from going to the black market.
