SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav chaired a review meeting with the officials of the Department of Agriculture and other related departments, district development managers of NABARD and scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra on Thursday.
District Development Commissioner Subhan Gowala, Chief Executive Officer of Sivasagar Zila Parishad Ashwini Doley, Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, District Agriculture Officer BN Chetia, Subdivisional Agriculture Officers, Agriculture Development Officers, FPC Coordinators and District Level Officers of Animal Husbandry Department, District Industries & Commerce Centres were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail the current status of various FPCs in the district agricultural production, production and expansion of oilseeds, procurement of paddy and other schemes. The discussion reviewed in detail how to streamline the functioning of the 13 FPCs in Sivasagar district along with the current progress of FPC as well as the problems being faced.
The Deputy Commissioner also discussed how to benefit farmers economically by building market houses for the sale of pigs and connecting farmers with the market system. He specially urged the agriculture development officers to identify areas where mustard is produced and pointed out the need for technical advice from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. He also urged the engineers of the irrigation department to make arrangements for irrigation in these areas. He urged the Agriculture Development Officers to start registering the names of farmers immediately focusing on paddy procurement centres and directed them to create awareness among the farmers on the issue. The Deputy Commissioner urged the officials to focus on fisheries production and dairy production in addition to focusing on the agriculture department.
