Sivasagar District Administration Launched Plastic Bank at Central Market

SIVASAGAR: With a view to encourage an eco-friendly lifestyle, the Sivasagar district administration has introduced an initiative named ‘Plastic Bank’ on Friday.

Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Lakshmi Priya inaugurated the ‘Plastic Bank’ at Central Market in Sivasagar town in presence of Executive officer of Sivasagar Municipal Board Rituraj Bordoloi, Chairperson of Sivasagar Municipal Board Mridusmita Sinha, Ward Commissioners, prominent citizens and general public of Sivasagar town. As many as 15 plastic banks have been installed by Sivasagar Municipal Board where citizens can go and deposit plastic items.

Inaugurating the ‘Plastic Bank’, the Deputy Commissioner said that this initiative had been taken as a part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign and this will help in making Sivasagar swachh and plastic-free. Urging the citizens to shun single-use plastic, she said this is a collective responsibility of both the district administration and the public to bring the much desired difference in our environment.

The other 14 locations where the ‘Plastic Bank’ were installed are Central Market opposite of Laxmi Cinema Hall, Temple Road opposite of Damini Medical Store, Temple Road opposite of Old Civil Hospital, DC’s Office complex, Sivasagar Shiva Dol area, Station Chariali Market, ASTC Bus Station, JP Agarwalla Path opposite of Nivedan, Babupatty opposite of LICI building, Hospital Road, GNG Path opposite of Rasaraj Hotel, AT Road opposite of 1-India Family Market, Jengonikatia, near SP office at MI Bora Road, BG Road, near ONGC Market and Boarding Road opposite Sibsagar Natya Mandir.
