Six arrested for possession of narcotic drugs in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Based on a tip-off, DSP (Headquarter), Lakhimpur along with OC, the naka checking teams of Dhalpur Outpost and Narayanpur Police Station intercepted an ambulance at Narayanpur at 9 pm on Sunday which was carrying patient from Nagaon to Bihpuria of Lakhimpur. When the police team searched the vehicle at the Narayanpur Centre, it was revealed that the ambulance was carrying four persons -Jiabur Rahman (40), son of Abdul Jabbar, Kampur, Nagaon, Arup Borah, son of Bolin Borah, Ward No. 3, Bihpuria, Jamiruddin (35), son of Abdul Matleb, Bandardewa, and Niranjan Konwar (30), Bandardewa, living near PTC of Arunachal Pradesh.

During the search, the police team recovered approximately 35 grams of suspected heroin in two plastic soap cases and three plastic tobacco containers and in 57 small finger-sized containers from their custody. Police arrested the four persons and seized five mobile phones along with the ambulance bearing registration number AS 07 A C 8374.

In a separate operation, Lakhimpur police arrested two persons on Sunday night- Rajiv Saikia (24), son of Nilomani Saikia, Dhalpur, who is now a resident of No. 2 Parbatipur under Bihpuriya Police Station, and Leonard Pegu, son of Harakanta Pegu of No. 2 Parbatipur Bandardewa – for possession of NDPS.
