Six poultry-laden vehicles without valid documents seized in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: As many as six Tata mobile vehicles loaded with broiler chicken coming from West Bengal without valid documents were seized by a team of Kokrajhar police from Monakocha-Kokrajhar road at Gaurang River Bridge in the wee hours of Saturday. The police team also arrested 16 persons along with vehicles.

Sources from the police said the six vehicles with broiler chicken without valid documents were coming from West Bengal and were supposed to transport the chicken to different areas of Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Chirang. The police also said 16 persons available in the vehicles were arrested for interrogation and the seized poultry could be worth Rs 15 lakh, sources said adding that further interrogation is on.

The registration numbers of the seized vehicles are - AS-15C/6609, AS-01HC/9072, AS-19C/8116, AS-26-C/8040, AS-01C/3832, and AS-01HC/9026.

It may be mentioned that the poultry-laden vehicles are commonly seen passing through different routes in Kokrajhar especially early in the morning. The vehicles used to pass the roads through remote villages after crossing Srirampur gate where most of the vehicles without proper documents get pass with various means.
