Sixth convention of United Bodo People’s Organization to be held next year

Kokrajhar: The United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) has decided to hold its 6th annual convention at Kailajuli Lokheswar Brahma High School playground, Rangapara in Sonitpur district from January 7 to January 10, 2020. This was informed by the general secretary of the UBPO, Anil Basumatary.

Sources said a strong reception committee was formed in a meeting held at Bathou Thanshali, Rangapara on Sunday. The reception committee was formed with MLA of Dhekiajuli, Ashok Singhal as president, Lenin Basumatary as working president and Mayamani Daimary as secretary respectively. Besides, minister Chandan Brahma is the chief patron while Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das and Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika were inducted as patrons of the reception committee.

The meeting, which was presided over by the president of Sonitpur district UBPO, Shambaru Mashahary, was also attended by the president of central committee, United Bodo People’s Organization, Mihiniswar Basumatary, general secretary Anil Basumatary, advisor Bipin Goyary and others. Talking to this correspondent, the general secretary of the UBPO, Anil Basumatary said several hundred delegates and observers from across the State and neighbouring States like Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and West Bengal would participate in the convention. He also said guests from Bangladesh and Nepal would come to the historic convention.
