'Sixth Schedule' area will be empowered: MP Dilip Saikia

DONGKAMUKAM: MP and BJP national secretary Dilip Saikia arrived at Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong on Monday to seek votes for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated candidate Rupsing Teron for 20th Boithalangso LAC which will go to polls on April 1 in the second phase of polls. Addressing the gathering, Dilip Saikia said that the Sixth Schedule area would be empowered to protect the Sixth Schedule people. He further said that the BJP would bring the two hills districts among the most advanced districts of the State within five years.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang said that the region had experienced peace during the BJP government's rule. Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh, Indubala Goswami compared the development done in 50 years of Congress rule with that done in just six years of BJP rule. She also said that only the Nehru-Gandhi family benefited during the Congress regime. MP Horensing Bey also briefed the gathering.
