HAILAKANDI: A total of 1.31 lakh job cards have been issued under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Hailakandi district during the past four and half years tenure of the present government. Informing this, District Project Manager, Hailakandi Zilla Parishad said 1.31 job cards have been issued under MGNREGA generating 61.17 lakh person days.
Altogether 5.24 lakh households completed 100 days of employment. Under the National Social Assistance Programme, a total number of 25,921 pensioners are getting monthly pension regularly out of which 20,796 are under the National Old Age Pension Scheme, 3,644 under the National Widow Pension and 1,481 under the National Disability Pension Schemes. Besides, 29,781 are receiving monthly pension under the Swahid Kushal Konwar Universal Old Age Pension Scheme launched by the State government. Moreover, in yet another universal pension scheme for widows initiated by the State government namely Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme, 2,567 widows have benefited.
In the past four and half years, a total number of 3,096 schemes have been taken up under the 14th Finance Commission Award. Of the total schemes, 2,313 were completed and remaining 783 schemes are ongoing. Altogether Rs.125 crore grant has been received out of which Rs.101 crore has been utilised.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Grameen), 12,183 houses were sanctioned out of which 6,060 dwelling units completed and the rest 6,123 are under various stages of construction. A residential colony under PMAY-G is coming up at Panchgram. The residential colony will have a total of 14 dwelling units.
During the COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdown, one time assistance of Rs.1,000 were provided to 12,805 persons under the National Food Security Act. In order to combat COVID-19 pandemic, 60,207 numbers of masks manufactured by local SHGs were distributed among the villagers in 62 Gaon Panchayats.
