TINSUKIA: “Social media having strong influence on masses can revolutionize journalism if it is properly moderated and can lead to affirmative results. With people generating mistrust on main stream media inclining more on web media, it has become a challenge for the society,” remarked Prasanta Rajguru, eminent journalist at Khogendranath Memorial Lecture organized by Bishnujyoti Sanskritik Samaj Tinsukia on the occasion of 4th death anniversary of Khogendranath Mohan at Tinsukia on Friday in presence of distinguish gathering.
Rajguru talking on the topic titled, ‘Socio-economic status of Assam and responsibility of 4th pillar’ also focussed on the present Manipur crisis while dwelt at length on pre-and post- Independent scenario of media. He pointed out that the very ethics of journalism is fast changing and that too in reverse order as never before the opposition that always sided with the media earlier now attacking media.The meeting presided over by Dr Jyoti Prasad Chaliha president Bishnujyoti Sanskritik Samaj was moderated by Purna Kakoti secretary. The programme also witnessed felicitation to few leading litterateurs of the district Sharifa Khatun Choudhury, Abdul Rouf and Alakananda Kakoty.
Khogendranath Mohan, a former state government executive, social worker and philanthropist was closely associated with Bishnujyoti Sanskritik Samaj Tinsukia as an executive member and also as president of Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee 2002.
