DIBRUGARH: Irrigation and Town Development Minister Ashok Singhal, during his tour to Dibrugarh, visited the site where construction work of Solid Waste Management Plant is undergoing with financial help of Asian Development Bank.
The minister, after a thorough inspection of construction work of the plant at Lekai, Thakurthan here, said, "If everything goes well, we will commission the plant within two or three weeks. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to hand over the plant to the people of the 170-year old Dibrugarh town."
Singhal, while talking to media persons here, hoped that a long-felt need of the people of Dibrugarh would be met with the inauguration of the plant here. Additional Chief Secretary Manindra Singh, Deputy Commissioner Pallab Gopal Jha, former MLA of Lahowal LAC, Rituparna Baruah, MLA of Moran LAC, Chakradhar Gogoi and other senior officials of the district administration accompanied the minister during his inspection.
While attending a discussion held at the DC's conference room, Ashok Singhal also reviewed the progress of ongoing construction works of various projects in the municipal areas of Namrup. Chabua, Dibrugarh and Naharkotiya and asked the authority concerned to complete the project with no further delay. The minister, during his tour, also inspected the Dibrugarh Town Protection Drain (DTPD). He emphasized that Dibrugarh Municipality should focus on keeping the municipal areas clean and healthy.
The minister also inspected the Dibrugarh Municipality Board's office. He also inaugurated a newly-built COVID Care Centre at Jalannagarh which has the facilities of initial treatment besides supply of oxygen, concentrators, ambulance service and vegetable food for the patients.
