Sonari Chapori Gaon Panchayat secretary clarifies allegations

LAKHIMPUR: The secretary of the Sonari Chapori Gaon Panchayat has made a clarification regarding the allegations published in the news titled as 'MGNREGA fund of Rs. 9 lakh allegedly misappropriated at Ghilamora', published in the July 23 issue of The Sentinel.

Regarding the issue, Sonari Chapori GP secretary Kalyan Dutta said in a written statement, "The said earthen peripheral bundh was completed 85-90 per cent (approx) of the total approval estimate. Due to heavy rainfall and flood hit, the certain portion of the road was affected due to erosion, etc. To bring an amicable solution of the problem, the Panchayat authority discussed the matter with local people of the area and local people of the area decided to restore the damage area on their own in the interest of the public. The local people also expressed thankfulness to the Panchayat authority for the handholding to bring an amicable solution to the problem." The public allegations regarding the issue were published in the news.
