TEZPUR: Deputy Commissioner Bhupesh Chandra Das on Monday handed over a sanction letter of Rs. 20,000 to Rumu Gor, wife of Dipak Gor, at Harchurra Tea Estate here in the presence of MIP Dr Pradip Lahkar, Manager, Harchurah TE, Partha Chatterjee, and others.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited the COVID Vaccination Centre set up at the TE to oversee the process. The Sonitpur district administration is going all out to provide free COVID vaccines to the tea garden population of the district and so far nearly 86,000 persons have been covered.

He also reopened a line in the tea garden which was previously notified as Containment Zone. The Deputy Commissioner has taken special initiative and moved the CMO to provide an amount equivalent to the 'COVID-19 Widows Support Scheme' to Rumu Gor from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Dipak Gor had died of suicide in a COVID Care Centre where he was admitted after testing positive for COVID-19. The one-time grant of Rs. 20,000 will be transferred directly to the beneficiary's account through RTGS.
