TEZPUR: Bhupesh Chandra Das, Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, along with Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, special member of the Medical Advisory Board of Plantation Workers, Government of Assam, and Medical Inspector of Plantations, Tezpur (MIP), visited vaccination centre of Dhulapadung Tea Garden under Rangapara LAC in Sonitpur district on Thursday.
As part of this programme, free vaccination is being provided to all citizens over 18 years of age through online as well as walk-in registration. Registration on behalf of the tea workers will be done by headmen of a line, manager or the officer-in-charge of vaccination.
DC Bhupesh Chandra Das met the managers of neighbouring gardens and advised them to take active part to cover entire population. Expressing his satisfaction at the high turnout of people, he appealed to people to come out and get themselves vaccinated during this mega vaccination camp as the only way to defeat the threat of COVID-19. He also expressed his thanks to the management for their efforts. He reiterated that all necessary help from the government would be provided to the garden by the department as per the recent SOP.
Attending the programme, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar requested the workers' union and students' organization to help the management to motivate the garden population to take vaccination. He also said that vaccination was a must to reduce the cases of COVID-19.
Further, Dr Lahkar directed all the managers to appoint adequate number of qualified medical and paramedical staff and to keep the ambulance in good and running condition to carry serious patients and to strictly follow COVID protocol guidelines.
