Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, the Anti Corruption Bureau PS team caught the Amiyapur Gaon Panchayat President red-handed while accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 5,000/- and a Bank cheque amounting Rs. 35,000/- from the complainant Dulal Nath of Dhekiajuli on Friday evening.

The bribe money has been seized from the possession of the accused person identified as Julon Kr. Nath.

The accused person who is presently holding the position of the President, Amiyapur GP was demanding illegal gratification from the complt. in the pretext that he would clear a bill amounting Rs. 1,38,000/- (Rupees one lakh thirty-eight thousand) for the construction work of an RCC culvert under Madhabpur, Bongaon for which the complainant supplied materials.

As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe amount to the said public servant, he approached the ACB PS in the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, and accordingly a trap was laid in the matter of ACB PS Case No. 17/2019 dated. 19.12.2019 u/s 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption act, 1988 (as amended 2018).

The accused has been arrested and being brought to ACB PS. He will be forwarded to the Hon'ble Court of Special Judge, Assam, at Guwahati on 21-12-2019. Due procedures are observed.
