TEZPUR: With the sporadic increase in coronavirus cases and people not following the COVID protocol, Sonitpur Press Club organized a massive awareness drive on Wednesday at Chowk Bazar Chariali to educate people about prevention and precautionary measures for COVID-19.

During the campaign, the members of Sonitpur Press Club also distributed 500 face masks to people who were moving without wearing masks. People were made aware on the proper use of masks, importance of social distancing and use of hygienic practices.

Liza Talukdar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Dr Rashmi Rekha Sarma, DSP, Headquarter, Sonitpur, took part in the awareness drive in presence of media persons and a large number of people.

While addressing the awareness drive, Liza Talukdar and Dr Rashmi Rekha Sarma appealed to the general public to strictly follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines such as use of face masks and maintaining social distancing. Liza Talukdar said that the Sonitpur district administration was grateful to the all members of the Sonitpur Press Club for their positive role played since the imposition of the countrywide lockdown.
