GUWAHATI:The State Education Department has released the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for observance of the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan starting from November 18 to November 24.
All the Elementary and Secondary level schools of the districts shall organize different types of academic activities and functions in the respective schools in the educational blocks and districts to commemorate the 400th Birth Anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan. The respective Head of the Institutions (Head Teachers / Head Masters / Principals) shall organize the functions within the school campus as an academic activity and as a mark of respect to the Historical legend of the State of Assam.
On November 19, all the schools will organize essay-writing competition amongst its students on the life and history of Bir Lachit Borphukan. The medium of writing the essay shall be according to the medium of the school or the students may write the essay in the language of their choice. Schools shall make provisions for awards and three best essays would be selected for the awards.
Prior to the day of writing the essay on November 19, the Head of the institutions shall arrange a session of lecture and speech by the teachers, Head of the Institutions and the students of the schools on the history of Bir Lachit Borphukan to encourage the students to write the essay. In addition to the essay writing activity, on other days the respective schools, shall organize cultural andacademic Activity like Extempore Speech, Debate competitions, Art and Painting competitions, Skit (Short Drama) and patriotic song competition and other related activities in their respective schools.
The schools will also participate in the programmes arranged by respective District Administrations and Inspector of Schools as per their instructions and guidelines. SSA Assam had already transferred fund for organizing the activities - Rs 2000 for LP&ME Schools and Rs 2500 for Secondary level schools.The fund shall be utilized by the respective elementary schools for organizing different activities and for awards.
The Inspector of Schools, the District Elementary Education Officers and the Block Elementary Education Officers shall guide the schools in organizing the activities and extend all assistance and cooperation and personally supervise the schedules and also co-ordinate between the schools and district administration in organizing the functions and activities as per the district-level guidelines in addition to this SOP issued by the Department of School Education.
SSA, Mission Director, Elementary Education and Director, Secondary Education will supervise/monitor/ coordinate and follow up with the DMCs/BMCs/DEEOs and Inspectors of Schools and obtain necessary reports regarding participation of all students/teachers of all schools. Similarly, Director SCERT will take necessary steps in respect of the institutions under SCERT.
