DHEKIAJULI: Different organizations, including Sonitpur district AARSU, ABSU, Rabha Mahila Jatiya Parishad, Bodo Women's Justice Forum, and the common people of Sopai Baligaon area under Dhekiajuli Police Station in Sonitpur district, have expressed dissatisfaction over the administration's alleged failure to apprehend the culprits involved in the February 20, 2021 gruesome twin-murder incident in the area.

In the incident, miscreants allegedly brutally killed a 55-year old woman, attacked her 4-year daughter leaving her in a critical condition and then raped and killed her 12-year old daughter. Her body was found after almost one week covered with hay in an open agricultural field near the village. Irate people and organizations held massive protests against the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits, exemplary punishment for the culprits and safety and security to the Rabha community people living in the area. Five months have passed since the incident but police have not been able to arrest the culprits. This has led to anger among the people.

Sonitpur district, All Assam Rabha Students' Union (AARSU) president Arun Kumar Rabha and secretary of Rabha Mahila Jatyo Parishad (RMJP), Tulika Rabha said that recently a representation was submitted to the DGP, Assam Police, seeking justice for the victim family. "But till date we have not achieved any favourable result. Almost five months have passed since the incident, but we don't understand why police have not been able to book the culprits involved in such a gruesome incident," they said. They warned that the organization would launch a vigorous movement against the police administration's total failure to nab the culprits.

They also urged local MLA Ashok Singhal to take necessary action in this regard, thereby giving justice to the family. Secretary of Sonitpur district ABSU, Enosh Narzary, also urged the government and police administration to investigate the incident properly and book the culprits involved in the incident.
