SIVASAGAR: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Gargaon College organized a Special Lecture on the topic 'Goal of life and Perfection of Personality' at the Academic Gallery on Wednesday.

An ardent follower of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Vivekananda and Sri Aurobinda, Diganta Biswa Sarma graced the occasion as the key orator of the programme. Following the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, delivered his welcome address. In his speech, Dr Mahanta highlighted on the importance of setting goals and charting a good career in the life of the students. He also stressed imbuing young minds with ethical and moral values in order to lead an organized life.

In a soul-stirring speech, Sahitya Akademi awardee Diganta Biswa Sarma motivated the students by narrating several stories of the Upanishads and urged them to follow the inner voice of the soul in choosing the goal of their life.

Speaking about bringing perfection in one's individuality, Sarma said that there must be a synchrony between the inner and outer stream of life in order to lead a balanced life. For a successful life, he added, the students must develop qualities and capacities and be motivated by mission, courage, strength and a living life of will and aspiration.

The programme was also graced by Dr Rina Handique, Vice-Principal of Gargaon College, and Dr Pobon Gogoi, president of Teachers' Unit of the College. Around 250 students along with the teachers of the college attended the event. The programme was coordinated by Debajani Bokalial, Assistant Professor of the Department of Assamese, Gargaon College.
