Special train between Karimganj and Silchar for today's exam

SILCHAR: Taking lessons from last week's experience, the administration had arranged a special train between Karimganj and Silchar for Sunday's written examination for the 3rd and 4th grade posts in various government departments. On last Sunday, more than five thousand candidates from Hailakandi and Karimganj districts could not reach Cachar due to massive traffic congestion and hence failed to appear in the examination. This had evoked sharp reaction among the candidates of Karimganj and Hailakandi as they squarely blamed the local public representatives.

It is to be noted that examination for all the three districts of Barak Valley is being held only in Cachar which had 118 centres.

Interestingly apart from Karimganj MLA Kamalakha Dey Purkayastha no other public representatives of Karimganj and Hailakandi took up the matter seriously.

Purkayastha on Thursday wrote to the NF railway officials and placed the demand for a special train on Sunday. The special train, which will have nine stoppages, will leave Karimganj at 6 am and will reach Silchar at 8.30 am. It will leave Silchar at 7.45 pm for Karimganj on Sunday. The special train will have seven coaches.

Meanwhile, Cachar district administration informed that preparation for Sunday's examination was complete. This time examination would be held in 114 centres.
