Spitting incident on girl students raises concern about women’s safety at Pathsala town

PATHSALA: An incident of spitting on girl students at Pathsala town during dusk has caused apprehension among conscious citizens. Pathsala town has turned into an educational hub of lower Assam and thousand to students from outside the district come here to pursue their higher education. Most of them stay in hostels, as paying guests or in rented rooms. There are a number of private educational institutions and government educational institutions in the town, including Bhattadev University.

Few days back, two girls were going to the market when two youths on a bike uttered some indecent words and spitted guthka and zarda pan on them. Local people have demanded the police to nab the culprits who opt for spitting and to take appropriate steps to ensure the security and safety of women in the town. Meanwhile, the SDPO of Bajali, Birinchi Bora assured that steps would be taken to nab the culprits and to prevent such incidents.
