Srimanta Sankardev Janmotsav to be celebrated in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev has been celebrated regularly at Chandmari, Bijay Nagar, Bowalguri, Sanatan Sangha, Sankar-Madhav and Khelmati namghars in rotation mode by the Uttar Lakhimpur Nagar Pachimanchal Srimanta Sankardev Janmotsav Udjapan Samiti since 2010. This year the Samiti will celebrate the 574th Abirbhav Tithi (Birth Anniversary) of Srimanta Sankardev at Chandmari Bor-namghar with a two-day long programmes on October 5 and October 6.

In this connection, a strong celebration committee was already constituted with Arun Chandra Tamuli as president, Lakhi Borah as working president and Bipul Chandra Neog as general secretary and the members of the six namghars as other office bearers and members. At present, the celebration committee has continued due preparation to organize the programmes with success on the designated days.
