UDALGURI: The Srimanta Sankardeva International Mission has decided to focus on Sankari culture and philosophy. Their mission includes the establishment of Sankardeva University at Barpeta, transcription of Sankardeva literature and publication of periodical to focus on Sankardeva.

The Srimanta Sankardeva International Mission organized a press meet at Rakhal Naamghar, Udalguri where Dr. Dimbeswar Bharali, the president, Pramod Rajbongshi, general secretary, Ajit Kumar Dewan, the acting president, and Devaraj Sapkota, the vice-president of Srimanta Sankardeva International University were present.

The committee announced that the process to translate the Kirtan Ghosa and Naam Ghosa into Bodo language was on. Also, 20 borgeets of Srimanta Sankardeva have been transcripted into Oriya language. The Srimanta Sankardeva International Mission will establish four xatras and naamghars in North Bengal. Among them, two have been completed. It will also organize workshops on Borgeet and Xattriya dance in North Bengal. The organization has also demanded Srimanta Sankardev’s birth anniversary to be declared a national holiday.
