LAKHIMPUR: A SSB personnel tested positive for COVID-19 in Lakhimpur district. The person has been identified as Shivnarayan Mandal (34), son of Mohadev Mandal, resident of village Kharbijganj under Araria district of Bihar.

He is an employee of 68 Battalion of SSB, Debendra Nagar, of Sonitpur district. He went to his house in Bihar on March 19 and came back to Tezpur on June 3 in a hired Bolero car with four other SSB jawans. He reached Tezpur on June 4 and joined service after completion of his leave. On June 24, a total of 12 SSB personnel, including Shivnarayan Mandal, came to Chawaldhowa of Lakhimpur district by a bus for deputed duty. They were all accommodated in the SSB Camp at Chawaldhowa. Due to his Acute Respiratory Illness (ARI) like illness he was put into a separate room at the SSB camp inside Chawaldhowa Police Outpost. Then his swab sample was collected at Subonsiri College on June 25 and he tested positive on Saturday. He has been already shifted to the Dedicated COVID Health Centre at Boginadi. On the other hand, the swab samples of 12 NHM employees of Lakhimpur tested negative for coronavirus on Saturday. These employees were quarantined after Narendra Sonowal, the driver of NHM office, had tested positive on June 21.
