SSB seizes timber logs worth over Rs 13 lakh

SSB team carried out search operation in border pillar no. 169 area and could seize a tractor and three bicycles loaded with 410 CFT of Sal logs worth Rs13,49,000 and arrest Hasda.

The 6th Bn. SSB, Ranighuli, Kokrajhar on Thursday seized Sal logs from smugglers along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang district worth Rs 13,49,000 and arrested a timber smuggler identified as Suniram Hasda (34) of Daosri under Runikhata PS.

Sources from the SSB, Ranighuli said the SSB team from Datgari and Tukrabasti along the Indo-Bhutan border, based on specific inputs, carried out search operation in border pillar no. 169 area and could seize a tractor and three bicycles loaded with 410 CFT of Sal logs worth Rs13,49,000 and arrest Hasda. Later, Hasda and the seized timber logs with tractor and bicycles were handed over to the Forest department in Runikhata.
