RANGIA: Ahead of the Assembly election, the Static Surveillance Team (SST) and Kamrup police have started conducting checking in different parts of the district, including the National Highway.

During naka checking, a huge amount of cash was seized from different parts of Kamrup district. Rangia Police headed by OC Ratan Das seized Rs 3.50 lakh from the Bhutan bus stand on Sunday night during random checking. According to the OC, while routine random checking, one Dinesh Singh was found carrying cash Rs 3.50 lakh.

During primary interrogation he could not produce any documents in support of the cash. The police seized the cash as per procedure, the OC said.

Earlier, the flying squad team seized cash Rs 1.72 lakh from a vehicle on NH-31 at Baihata under Kamalpur constituency in Rangia Election District during routine checking. The Static Surveillance Team also seized cash from Chhaygoan during checking.
