DOOMDOOMA: Despite critical flood situation near the OIL BGR No.5 blowout well for the last few days, sufficient progress was made in removal of debris on Monday without which the final capping of the well cannot be undertaken.

In a press release by OIL, it was stated that the carrier and major part of pipes had been removed. With this, all major debris was removed except the sub-structure of the rig and a few drill pipes and some miscellaneous items in and around the cellar area. Removal of the debris in Baghajan Oil field was started again from Tuesday morning. At the time of reporting, all debris had been removed from the well plinth and small items were being swept away. All three ONGC CMT water pumps and OIL CMT water pumps were used water spraying depending on requirement.

Relief and rehabilitation survey job for assessment of damage for compensation in both Tinsukia and Doomdooma Circle was taken up on Tuesday. Ten more families were surveyed on July 13, making the number of total families surveyed in Doomdooma Circle 559. Assessment of burnt houses was carried out with the help of PWD (Building) division, mandals and gaonburah in presence of Election Officer and owners. Total 88 more families were surveyed on July 13 in Tinsukia Circle making the total number of families surveyed till Monday in Tinsukia Circle 824. Total number of families surveyed till July 13 put together in Tinsukia and Doomdooma Circle is 1,383.

Besides this, ERM team conducted ecological survey in Notungaon area on Monday. However, TERI team could not collect samples for monitoring of air quality and noise level on Monday as they were undergoing COVID-19 test.
