Boko: The State Forest department seized Sal logs along with a country-made motor boat near the mighty Brahmaputra River at Goroimari Alikakh in Lower Assam’s Kamrup district on Tuesday early morning. A group of forest staff from Bamunigaon Protect Range, Singra, Loharghat and Bamunigaon Forest Range and Kukurmara forest beat office, led by West Kamrup divisional forest officer Ranjan Goswami, launched an operation after he got a tip-off from his source. When the team reached the place, all the smugglers had fled from the place. DFO Goswami said that the smugglers were loading timer on the boat to supply in the char areas of Brahmaputra. The seized logs have a market value of around Rs 6 lakh, along with the boat. Later, Bamunigaon Protection Range Officer Lakheswar Das and his team seized the timber and the boat and brought these to the Nagarbera River Forest Range.
