State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) Vice- Chairman Ramen Deka attended as chief guest in an awareness and infertility camp organized by the College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara which is a part of Pashudhan Jagruti Abhiyan (PJY) programme undertaken by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.

GUWAHATI: State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) Vice- Chairman Ramen Deka attended as chief guest in an awareness and infertility camp organized by the College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara which is a part of Pashudhan Jagruti Abhiyan (PJY) programme undertaken by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The programme was held on Thursday at Borbori village of Burah, Darrang district. Animal treatment camp, training of farmers as well as interactive session along with seminar were conducted during the day long programme.

Addressing the august gathering, Vice Chairman Ramen Deka lauded the initiatives of the Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara. In his speech, Ramen Deka stressed on the importance of scientific intervention in all spheres especially in food production due to increase in population. He says that milk production needs to be enhance using various scientific methods. As such, he says training and awareness is needed to start any activity for a livelihood. At the same time, he emphasized on soil testing to improve the fertility of the soil.

Dr. A. Jalaludeen, Former Director of Academics and Research at Kerala Veterinary University, Dr. B.N. Bhattacharya, Director of Research (Veterinary), Dr.Jugabrat Das, Nodal Officer of the Gorukhuti Bohumukhi Prakalpa, Dr. R.A. Hazarika, Additional Director of Extension Education at AAU, Khanapara, Dr. Mihir Sarma, Dr. Pankaj Deka, officials of SITA, students and local beneficiaries were also present in the programme, stated a press release.
