LAKHIMPUR: A State level Kabi Sanmilan (Poets' Conference) was organized by Sissi-Borgaon Sakha Xahitya Xabha at Sissi-Borgaon College in association with the Departments of Assamese, History and Philosophy of the college. The programme which was titled as 'Rang Aru Kobitare Basantar Ebela' was chaired by Mridul Sarmah, a noted columnist, literary critic-cum-Professor if DHB Kanoi College. It was inaugurated by Utpal Doley, poet-cum-ADC of Dhemaji district. "Literature is the mirror of society or a community. Literature reflects the social life. We have to adjust ourselves with the changes the time brings to the society. So the theme of poems should be of the contemporary time and the poets should pay heed to create the best and meaningful poems. Workshops should be organized to create readers of poems. In this regard there is much importance of library with due infrastructures", Utpal Doley remarked in his lecture. Professor of Gauhati University (Rabindranath Tagore seat, UGC) Dr. Umesh Deka attended the event as chief guest.
