GOLAGHAT: The bronze statue of martyred journalist Parag Kumar Das was unveiled at Golaghat town in Municipal Board Park under the aegis of Golaghat Media Forum on Tuesday. The statue of Parag Kumar Das was unveiled by the Golaghat Deputy Commissioner, Mrigesh Narayan Barua. Remembering Parag Kumar Das, Golaghat Media Forum celebrated its 3rd foundation day by unveiling the statue. Later a meeting was held at the conference hall of Golaghat Municipality Board under the presidentship of the senior journalist Dwipen Dutta. Porag Kumar Das' contribution towards the society were remembered in the meeting. The Golaghat DC Mrigesh Narayan Barua, Additional SP Anjan Pandit, Circle Officer Papori Das, senior journalist Apurba Ballabh Goswami, vice chairman of Golaghat Municipal Board Simanta Bora, former Chairman Juri Das Rajkhowa along with several dignitaries were present at the meeting. On May 17, 1996, journalist and human rights activist Parag Kumar Das was shot by unidentified gunmen in Guwahati.
