BARPETA: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited the Patbaushi Xatra in Barpeta, which was the workplace of Gurujona Srimanta Sankardev. He inspected the memorabilia of Gurjona in the Xatra and interacted with the xatradhikar, management committees and devotees there. The Chief Minister was welcomed with gayan-bayan.

Later talking to media persons, the Chief Minister said that Gurujona, whose birthplace was Bardowa, spent 18 years and 6 months of his life at Patbaushi Xatra where he produced some of his best and immortal creations. A mega project had already been started for development of Gurujona's birthplace Batadrava Than and steps would also be taken to preserve and protect Patbaushi Xatra which would be approved in the cabinet meeting, he said.

Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Xatradhikar of Naruwa Xatra, Debananda Deba Goswami, Sundaridiya Xatra Xatradhikar Janardan Adhikari, and Kumarkuchi Xatra Xatradhikar Ratnakanta Adhikari were also present during the Chief Minister's visit.

Later, the Chief Minister also visited Sri Sri Patbaushi Xatra set up by Sri Sri Damodar Dev and offered his prayers. He inspected the sasipat scriptures and other valuable resources there. The Chief Minister was warmly felicitated at the Xatra by the Xatradhikar and other management committee members. Addressing the devotees, he said that the present state government was committed to preserve and protect the Xatriya culture for the future generations of the State and the two xatras at Patbaushi would be preserved.
