LAKHIMPUR: The stir initiated by the Lakhimpur district unit of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Parishad (AJYCP) opposing to the encroachment upon Assam’s land by Arunachal Pradesh continues in Lakhimpur. Regarding the issue, the activists of the organization demonstrated sit-in at Kakoi Rajgarh for the second day on Sunday with support from other organizations and local people. The stir has been organized in association with North Lakhimpur and Kakoi-Rajgarh regional units of the AJYCP.

By staging the protest programme, AJYCP has demanded the Arunachal Pradesh Government to remove the police outpost which was set up encroaching upon Assam’s land at Kakoi Reserve Forest. The organization has also demanded the government of the neighbouring State to immediately remove the encroachers from Assam. Otherwise, the organization would initiate road blockade programmes in the upcoming days.

On the other hand, AJYCP Lakhimpur district general secretary Diganta Bhuyan expressed vehement resentment alleging failure on the part of the Lakhimpur district administration with regard to checking and removing the encroachment from the neighbouring State.
