Stolen Car Recovered By Karbi Anglong Police, Two Arrested

MANGALDAI: In the well-coordinated effort, the Darrang and Karbi Anglong police have achieved a significant achievement in the recovery of a stolen brand new Maruti Dezire car within 12 hours. The team of Manza Police Station in Karbi Anglong district has recovered the stolen car and arrested two notorious car lifters.

According to information, a notorious gang of car lifters early morning of Tuesday at about 4 am, lifted the car bearing registration number AS 13 G 8017 owned by Bharat Bhushan Mahanta -a teacher cum former President of Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha from his residence at Randhani Satra village under Pothorughat Police Outpost of Sipajhar Police Station.

Immediately on receipt of the information, Darrang Police alerted all the police stations particularly the Karbi Anglong district suspecting the stolen car might have been taken to Dimapur in Nagaland. The inputs provided by Sub Inspector Krishna Kanta Laskar of District Cyber Cell helped the police in getting the location of the car lifters. The Manza Police on the same evening at about 7 pm recovered the car and arrested two notorious car lifters namely Paban Bania (23) of Niz Dahi Baniapara and Bhabesh Kalita of Bor Satra village both under Mangaldai Police Station. Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Ujjwal Pratim Barua coordinated the entire operation assisted by Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Mamani Hazarika. This morning, Darrang Police brought both the car lifters and the recovered vehicle to the district. The conscious circle here in the district have highly appreciated the prompt initiative of Darrang Police and also of Manza Police in Karbi Anglong district.
