Street play to create awareness on pollution caused by firecrackers in Dhakuakhana

LAKHIMPUR: The D.El.Ed trainees of Dhakuakhana Normal School staged a street play in several schools of Dhakuakhana subdivision on Saturday in order sensitize the students and to create awareness on the environmental impact of the firecrackers used on the occasion of Diwali.

A play titled Jonak Nahauk Amaboshya, composed and directed by journalist Rajib Baruah, attempts to create awareness on how the robust sound of the firecrackers burst during Diwali and the aluminium particles-mixed smog had brought a crisis to human and animal lives as well as to the environment. Regular D.El.Ed trainees of the school staged the play. The Principal of the school, Lakhi Konwar, instructor Jiban Gogoi, journalist Rajib Baruah and a galaxy of noted personalities of the subdivision extended their cooperation to the programme.

On Sunday, a street play was staged by the artistes of Ghilamora Nehru Yuva Kendra and the youths of Subansiri at Mornai Bebejia Chariali. The play laid stress on the importance of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali to check environmental pollution.
