Stress laid on formation of wage code, wage board, media council

TINSUKIA: “Constitutional status of journalists along with formation of regulatory authority can ensure ethics of journalism,” observed Keshab Kalita, president of Assam Union of Working Journalists, while speaking as chief guest at the workshop on Majithia Wage Board organized by Margherita Journalists’ Association under the aegis of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA) on the occasion of National Press Day at Margherita.

He also emphasized the formation of wage code, wage board, and media council. Attended by more than 50 journalists from six press clubs of the district, the workshop presided over by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of MJA, was moderated by Dr. Rishi Das, president of TDJA. Earlier, Dibakar Nath, SDO (Civil), inaugurated the workshop and Rana Jyoti Neog, secretary of TDJA, explained the objective of the meeting. Senior journalists of Margherita - Jagat Changmai and Gakul Sarma – were also felicitated during the programme.
