Strict discipline at workplaces can help to avert security breaches: Ali Hazarika

Bongaigaon: The week-long Security Week, 2019 with the theme ‘Security for Business Continuity’ at Bongaigaon Refinery concluded on Thursday with a function held at the event hall in the refinery premises.

A Kalita, CGM (In-charge) chaired the function and Raunak Ali Hazarika , DIGP, Western Range, Bongaigaon, Assam graced the occasion as guest speaker. Hazarika in his speech lauded the efforts of IOCL, BGR in celebrating the Security Week 2019 with due diligence. He further added that security was a state of mind and alertness, awareness and strict discipline at workplaces could go a long way in reducing security threats and could help to avert security breaches.

Speaking on the occasion, A Kalita, CGM (In-charge), explained that the theme ‘Security for Business Continuity’ was very apt and relevant to the industry. “IOCL, BGR is committed to conducting business in a safe manner and that which is compatible with the environmental and economic needs of the communities in which we operate. The refinery is also ensuring that its operations do not hamper the safety and health of its employees,” he said. Kalita further added, “Safety and security of our installations should be our prime objective at all times. Employees should be alert while carrying out their duties so that any kind of security threat can be averted individually as well as collectively.”

Cash awards were presented to three jawans from CISF- BGR Unit, one township security personnel and one home guard under Dhaligaon Police Station for their outstanding services.

The week-long Security Week was observed with various activities such as sensitization talks, mock drill and quiz competitions for CISF personnel, township security, and BGR HS School students.
