HAILAKANDI: With mushrooming of unauthorized junior colleges, Inspector of Schools Rajiv Kumar Jha urged the students and parents to take admission only after proper verification of permission orders. Jha said that in Hailakandi district there are around 20 so called junior colleges without registration and only a handful have proper permission from the authorities concerned. "The government is taking initiative to prevent the mushrooming of such unauthorised junior colleges, as these institutions are violating government norms," said Jha.

Jha said the students and parents must be extra cautious while taking admission. "If these so called junior colleges close at any point of time, the career of the students will be at stake, for which the principal and management of these unauthorised institutions will be held accountable," added Jha.

Meanwhile, Jha has asked the management authority to change the nomenclature of junior college as senior secondary school in compliance with the government directive. "Non compliance may invite departmental action including closure of the defaulting institutions," Jha said.

The Inspector of Schools revealed that there is no school in the district with zero pass percentage in this year's HSLC examination. Hailakandi district put up a good performance in the SEBA conducted exam with a pass percentage of 54.60 emerging the top district in Barak Valley. 22 schools were closed down by the State government for zero pass percentage in the just announced HSLC results. Barring Hailakandi and Karimganj districts, there are two schools in Cachar district having registered zero pass percentage.
