AGARTALA: As many as four suspected citizens of Bangladesh were arrested by the Government Railway Police from the Dharamnagar Railway Station on Thursday.

The Government Railway Police officials posted in the Dharamnagar Railway Station of Tripura apprehended four people suspected to be Bangladeshi citizens who had entered the country illegally. Out of them, three are males and one female.

Government Railway Police Inspector Uttam Kaloi mentioned that the officials were also able to able to recover some Indian documents from one of the people arrested. On interrogation by the officials, one of them revealed that they had entered India from Bangladesh on the previous night and travelled to the Dharamnagar Railway Station by train.

One of them also mentioned that there is a whole network in place to bring in Bangladeshi citizens illegally to India and a syndicate was in place to do the same and take money for the same. He also added that the person had paid Rs 6000 only to cross over into India and reach the place of work. They however did not reveal any details regarding the location where they had crossed over into the country.

The Government Railway Police officials also released the details of the arrested people. They are Asar Ahmed ( aged 29 years ), Suhag Kha (aged 33 years), Sabina Ahmed (aged 19 years) Ruman Halder (aged 20 years). They intended to board a train in the station and travel to Bangalore using the same. They had also planned to get employment opportunities in Bangalore.

In another recent development, Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested three Bangladeshi nationals at Kamakhya railway station on Wednesday evening. They were arriving at Guwahati railway station from Jammu and Kashmir by Brahmaputra Mail. They were arrested by Railway Police Force for interrogation on the arrival of the train at Kamakhya railway station. They disclosed that they were coming from Kashmir via Delhi. Further inquiry revealed that one was Azim Ali (33) who hails from the village of Sadolpara, in the district of Sunamganj, Bangladesh; the other is Shakeel Miya (23) who hails from the village of Saifullakandi in the district of Brahma Baria, Bangladesh; and the third one is Abdul Quayoom (28) from village Kalanjura in the district of Habiganj, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
