LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Health Department identified a total of 40 persons who came to contact with Dr Hashid Zaman. The Health Department collected the swab samples of these persons and sent them to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for COVID-19 test.

Moreover, they have been quarantined and placed under observation. Dr. Hashid Zaman, who is a Medical Officer and was the in-charge of the quarantine facility set up at OPD College, tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. The unruly attitude and behaviour of a section of COVID-19 patients who had been quarantined at OPD College Quarantine Facility before they tested positive for coronavirus, was considered to be the reason for the infection in the doctor.

Including these 40 swab samples, a total of 105 swab samples were sent to AMCH on Thursday for COVID-19 test from the district. On the other hand, 9 people were stamped for home quarantine while 112 people completed their 28-day long period of home quarantine. Till date, a total of 6,518 people out of 8,383 people completed their home quarantine in the district. The District health Department admitted a total of 1,939 people returning from other States till Wednesday. Total 36 such people were admitted in quarantine facilities on Wednesday while 108 such people were discharged from quarantine facilities on Thursday after their swab test result came negative. Till day, a total of 1,697 returnees from other States have been discharged from quarantine facilities of the district and 382 are still under observation.
