KOKRAJHAR: Along with the rest of the nation, the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame was lit from the eternal flame of the National War Memorial in Kokrajhar signifying the valour and bravery of the soldiers. Since then, the victory flame is travelling across the length and breadth of the nation.

On its journey in the Seven Sisters, the flame travelled 250 km from Umroi Mil station to the abode of Red Horns Division at Kokrajhar. The flame witnessed an imposing reception ceremony organized under the aegis of Red Horns Division.

Hundreds of attendees, including Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka and other civilian dignitaries, 1971 war veterans, serving soldiers of army, SSB and CRPF were present. Amid large gathering and cheering by the locals, Brig Kulvir Singh,SM, Cdr Agia Bde received the Victory Flame in Kokrajhar and witnessed ceremonial guard of honour, scintillating pipe band display, felicitation of 1971 war heroes which marked the inception of the four-day event.
