LAKHIMPUR: A one-day symposium on present trend of education and National Education Policy (NEP) - 2020 was organized by Lakhimpur Girls’ College, a premier college of North Assam spreading education among women. The main theme of the symposium was “Trends in Higher Education in the context of NEP-2020 in Assam”. The event was organized in collaboration with Girijananda Choudhury University, located in Guwahati. It was held under the management of Binita Hazarika, a Senior Professor of the Department of Physics of the college. The symposium was inaugurated by Robin Kakati, the Vice-Principal of Lakhimpur Girls’ College

Chancellor of Girijananda Choudhury University-cum-former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Professor Alak Kumar Burhagohain delivered lecture on the designated theme attending the event as resource speaker. In his lecture, Professor Burhagohain threw light upon how the NEP-2020 would benefit the students and the changes the policy had brought in academics. In connection, the resource speaker highlighted several important aspects of education for the benefit of the students. In addition to the students, faculties of Lakhimpur Girls College, professors from various colleges of Lakhimpur district took part in the event. They participated in an interactive session with the speaker. In the second session of the symposium, two professors of Girijananda Choudhury University, Dr. Kankan Kishor Pathak and Dr. Randeep Burhagohain respectively took part in another interactive programme with the students on career opportunities created by technical education.
