DEMOW: The Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad Assam (TAYPA) Central Committee reiterated their demand for ST status during a press meet organized in Demow Multi-Purpose Building on Sunday. The TAYPA stated that a central executive meeting of the TAYPA was organized in Demow Multi Purpose Building and in the meeting some proposals and decisions were taken. The TAYPA stated that on February 10 it will take out a rally in Sivasagar Town from the Tai Bikash Kala Kendra to highlight their demand for ST status. Later, the TAYPA, through the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner will submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister, President and Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The TAYPA leaders said that if ST status is not granted to the community before election then the BJP-led government will have to face its consequences in the forthcoming polls. President Bijoy Rajkonwar, assistant general secretary Rana Ranjan Gogoi, and TAYPA central committee general secretary Rudrasagar Buragohain were present in the meet.
