SIVASAGAR: Keeping in view all norms of COVID-19 protocol, Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) celebrated its 26th foundation day in a low-key affair at the historic Rangghar premises on Friday.
The celebration was observed among the members of its Sivasagar district committee and central committee due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation. On the occasion of the foundation day, in the morning the organization's flag was hoisted by Suraj Gogoi, president of TAYPA, Sivasagar District Committee and maidam tarpan was done by Jayanta Borgohain, secretary of TAYPA, Sivasagar District Committee.
To mark the occasion, the organization conducted a plantation drive at its office premises and distributed saplings at different places. Reiterating its demand for ST status to the community, the organization demanded overall development of Sivasagar district. It also demanded establishment of a skill development university, medical college and other academic infrastructure to develop the education sector in Sivasagar district.
