LAKHIMPUR: The Takam Mising Mime Kebang (All Mising Women’s Front-TMMK) has demanded the governments at the Centre and Manipur to reward capital punishment to the culprits involved in the gruesome crime. The central committee of the TMMK convened a press conference at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Saturday. Addressing the media persons, TMMK president Geetanjali Bori Patir and general secretary Sharmila Payeng said that the heinous crimes like bloodshed, homicide, rape and destruction of public-individual properties occurred in Manipur due to the communal clash between Meitei and Kuki communities had turned the State into a killing ground of humanity.

“Occurrence of these crimes in the State has not only ashamed the society but also maligned the glory of the nation in the globe. The case of the two helpless women being paraded naked on a road by a group of people after being gang raped in the State is one of such examples. The satanic culprits in the shape of human being, who got demonic satisfaction by making the two helpless Kuki women parade naked on the road after being gang raped, has humiliated the women community and degraded the status, prestige of Indian women and hit their freedom,” Geetanjali Bori Patir and Sharmila Payeng said.

They demanded the Union Government and Government of Manipur to reward strictest punishment to the culprits involved in the case and hang them until death. They also demanded both governments to ensure that no culprits could get away from being punished by taking advantage of the loopholes of law.

Through the same press conference, TMMK urged upon both governments to restore peace in Manipur, to rehabilitate those affected people who had become homeless due to the riots, to compensate the families whose members had to lose life and to provide medical assistance to the injured. The organization also appealed to the Meitei and Kuki communities to bring back peace to the State with bond of coordination to avoid more bloodshed, to protect women from being raped, children from being killed and people from being homeless.
