TANGLA: Amidst the indefinite postponement of BTC Council polls, new equations are emerging in the four districts of the Bodo belt - Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is looking for fresh inductions into the party, may be joined by Tamulpur MLA and founding organizing secretary of Bodoland People's Front (BPF), Emmanuel Mosahary.
According to sources close to Mosahary, he is in touch with the top brass of the Assam BJP, including a powerful cabinet minister holding several portfolios, and he may switch over to the saffron party ahead of the polls.
Sources said the legislator was quite unhappy with the BPF leadership for not being able to give him a ministerial berth in the State Government. What added to the woes of the legislator is that several of his recommended candidates were denied tickets by the BPF in the council polls.
Assam PHE Minister Rihon Daimari, while referring to the reports of Moshahary leaving the party, said, "Definitely I think his exit will harm the party but as a strong regional party it will make up for the loss."
Mosahary is yet to formally resign from the BPF. However, another source divulged that the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) led by Pramod Boro was also trying to rope in Mosahary.
