DOOMDOOMA: Tarun Kapoor, Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, visited Baghjan BGR No. 5 blowout site on Tuesday along with CMD and Functional Directors of OIL to take stock of the work progress at site. Later, Kapoor also visited the relief camp at Baghjan.
He reviewed the progress and expressed his satisfaction on the execution of the plan. He had a detailed discussion with the district administration on Tuesday and briefed them on the next course of action after reviewing all the details provided by the administration. On Wednesday morning, Kapoor sat with the experts from M/s Alert Disaster Control, VP Mahawar, former Director (Onshore), ONGC, and teams from OIL and ONGC to understand the plan of capping the well.
The work for capping the well is going on round-the-clock although due to torrential rain from Tuesday, most of the rivers like Dangoria, Dhola and Doomdooma have submerged extensive areas under Doomdooma revenue circle. In the meanwhile, one end of Rupaisiding TE bridge subsided because of surging flood water, thus snapping communication to Baghjan. If the approach roads on either ends of another bridge near Tapoban are also damaged then Baghjan will remain cut off from Doomdooma.
