TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia District Journalists' Association (TDJA) has vehemently condemned minister Pijush Hazarika who rebuked and issued threat to two Morigaon-based journalists. TDJA observed two-hour sit-in at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tinsukia on Saturday and later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia. Niluram Sarma received the memo on behalf of the district administration.

The memorandum stated that the government must ensure safety of the two journalists along with all media persons in Assam. The TDJA also demanded appropriate action against Pijush Hazarika.

More than 70 journalists representing press clubs of Tinsukia, Digboi, Margherita, Saikhowa, Kakopathar, Doomdooma and Sadiya participated in the demonstration. Apart from journalists, leaders from various organizations like AASU, AMSU, AJYCP, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti voiced their concern and univocally stood for justice to journalists.
