TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia District Journalists' Association (TDJA) in its executive meeting held at Kakopathar Public Library under the aegis of Kakopathar Press Club on Thursday expressed discontent over the inordinate delay in submission of CID investigational report pertaining to controversial accidental death of journalist Parag Bhuyan at Kakopathar who was president of Kakopathar Press Club and vice-president of TDJA.
The meeting chaired by Dr Rishi Das, president of TDJA, adopted several resolutions with respect to the forthcoming biennial conference. The meeting decided to hold the 22nd biennial conference at Kakopathar as desired by Bhuyan on March 13-March 14, 2021, besides awarding the Bhadra Krishna Goswami Memorial Journalist Award on investigative journalism (state-wise) and Parag Bhuyan Memorial Young Journalist Award (Tinsukia district-wise). The latter award has been instituted by Kakopathar Press Club.
The meeting was addressed by Monoj Dutta who called upon TDJA members to contribute articles for Janaddhani-the TDJA mouthpiece, Kamal Talukdar, vice-president, Anuj Kalita, president of Doomdooma Press Club, among others. Earlier, Bijay Dutta, president of Kakopathar Press Club, while welcoming the members, presented a tentative programme for the biennial meet and Rana Jyoti Neog, secretary of TDJA, outlined the objective of the meeting. Journalists from different press clubs of the districts-Doomdooma, Kakopathar, Tinsukia, Saikhowa and Margherita attended the meeting.
