Teachers’ Day celebrated in Lakhimpur; District Award conferred on 17 teachers

The 62nd Teachers’ Day was celebrated across Lakhimpur district on Tuesday to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a globally acclaimed philosopher, scholar and a teacher.

LAKHIMPUR: The 62nd Teachers’ Day was celebrated across Lakhimpur district on Tuesday to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a globally acclaimed philosopher, scholar and a teacher.

Lakhimpur district administration and the Education Department of the district celebrated the event at Saikhik Bhawan, located at the Inspector of Schools office premises. The agenda of the event began with a presentation made by Lovely Borah, the headmistress of the Tatibahar LP School.

Attending the event, District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan extended warm wishes to the teacher's fraternity on the occasion and urged upon them to uplift the district to one of the five best performing districts of the State with their dedicated works. Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka appreciated the teachers as nation's builders while laying stress on teachers' role in moral enhancement of the students.

Vice-Principal (Academic) of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), Banikanta Konwar graced the occasion as appointed speaker. He delivered his speech on life and works of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and his unconditional love to the teachers' fraternity.

In connection with the 62nd Teachers’ Day, Lakhimpur district administration and Education Department selected 17 teachers for the district award as ‘Kirti Sikshak’ for their unique services to the academic arena. They were given warm felicitations while conferring the awards on them in the event. Of them, five are LP teachers three are UP teachers, four are high school teachers while five are high secondary level teachers. These teachers are Chandra Kanti Dutta, Head Teacher, No 80 Gharmora LPS, Rusena Begum, Head Teacher, Phenkhati LPS, Raju Dutta, Assistant Teacher, North Lakhimpur Town Model LPS, Rupam Sonowal, Head Teacher, Bihdia Missing LPS, Bhaskar Hazarika, l/c Head Teacher, Rupahi Rajgarh LPS, Chandra Changmai, Head Master, Karipukhuri MES, Iva Dutta, Head Mistress, Narayanpur Girls MVS, Afazur Rahman, Asstt. Teacher, Chukulibharia MVS, Aruna Tamuli Phukan, Asstt. Teacher, Solal Telahi Kamalaboria HS, Labonya Phukan, Assistant Teacher, Town High Madrassa, Anil Saikia, Principal, NL Girls HSS, Satyaranjan Bora, Principal, Dhalpur HSS, Dulu Saikia, Principal, Pachim Dhakuakhana HSS, Arundhati Bora, Asstt. Teacher, NL Govt. HSS, Hemen Kalita, I/c Head Master, Patia Chapari High School, Dambarudhar Newar, Headmaster, Tariani Barbil HS and Bhrigu Prasad Sarma, Asstt. Teacher, Panigaon HSS.

In the same event, District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan handed over the letters presented by the Chief Minister to the State awardee teachers of the district.
